Cowboys, What Do You Think About Them?

Dear Someone,
In My U.S History class we talked about Cowboy's briefly. My teacher stood by the white board, Expo marker in hand and asked, "What do you think of when you hear Cowboy?" The whole class started blurting out things.

"Gun fights"

"Cattle Drives"

"Indians"

"Horses"

My teacher wrote everything down as it was being said.  I just sat there, too tired to say anything.  Who ever thought that teenagers getting up at six am after staying up all night trying to finish homework and fit in a life would be awake for school was crazy.

"Romance"

My teacher wrote it down on the board.
Wait.. What? Romance? Romance and Cowboys? What. No. See when I think of Cowboys I think of Woody from Toy Story.  And I definitely was not about to say that to the class. "Oh yes, Cowboy's make me think of that plastic toy in that pixar animated movie." ... Yeah not happening ... But Romance? What's romantic about Cowboys?  They smell like cattle, get drunk, start bar fights and are outlaws. Well... at lest back in the 1800's that's what they where like...
It's come to my attention that our perspective of these "hunky" Cowboys has been set up to make them seem about a million times hotter then they actually where.  That's all LIES.  They weren't the attractive macho manly men that has been painted in our heads.  These guys who actually where cowboys then, at the prime time of cowboys, they where smaller, lightweight so they can ride horses for hours, quick on their feet... and. They smelled..
Sorry, but the whole hardly bathing for three to four months really struck me as nasty.
I can't imagine THOSE Cowboy's from the 1800's to be romantic. Whats so special about a Cowboy that makes him more attractive then a football player or a math geek or that artsy guy.
.. Maybe it's the button up shirts that are worn so casually, or its the cowboy hat.  Maybe even the cowboy boots.  Who knows, it might just be that cute southern accent?  Me bring from Texas and having gown down there to visit friends over the summer know that southern accents on guys are just... adorable(: Not gonna lie there.  So a combonation of the way they talk and their get up.... I can see how that might be appealing.
See? Did you see that.  Even though we all know better, can't help it. Every time we see a guy walk by who looks like a cowboy we stop.  We imagine how romantic it would be if he just rode up on his trusty steed, lookin all hot and Cowboyish and just seeped you off your feet and ride off into the sunset together and live a life of bliss on the ranch.
So. . . My question is. . .

... See this is a prime excample of our perspective of Cowboy's being made hotter then they actaully are...
Even though I am rather enjoyin this... ha.. KIDDING. just saying.
